Just wondering.... right now I am running a BFG Geforce 5500 PCI OC card... if i upgraded to a Sapphire X1650 256mb, 128-bit interface, 500/800 clocks, how much of a difference would i notice.

Bigmongous difference if your power supply can handle it.

Think my Antec Smartpower 350 could push it right?

If it uses no 6-Pin Power Connectors then it should, but I would definately look into upgrading to a 520W Corsair or at least a decent 450W Power Supply.

FSP 450W Power Supply - $60
OCZ 600W Power Supply - $99
Corsair 520W Power Supply - $120

I would go with the OCZ because it's cheaper and has 80 more watts. Or, if you need a cheaper option I would go with the FSP Group 450W Power Supply Unit.

notta chance. You can only use around 200W of that 350 safely. Its best to keep your PSU between 40-70% of its intended load, for accurate voltage regulation and stability.
Ok lets put this in perspective, my x850xt eats up more power then his and it can run on that same PSU fine. You should be fine, try it out and see how well it works, if not all you need is a good 450watt power supply.

Yes the 1650 isn't that power hungry, your psu will be fine.

Well, the PSU i have does have an available six pin power connector, but this car uses a Floppy disk power connector. If I need something more, I will be looking into a 450 or 500 Watt Antec. This one I have now should be sufficient enough.

A x800 does not draw more power than a x1600pro...they are almost identical cards. Both run around 500mhz core and 1.1-1.2ghz for the mem speed, both are 128 bit cards. My guess is that the x1600 still pulls more power, due to its newer design...as ATI rarely goes down in power consumption.

*If you want to know for sure, please list the amperage off of the side of the PSU.

amperage*voltage = watts

If the PSU is capable of 350w total ouput, then you could pull [350w * 75%] = 262W before you start really straining the PSU. If its a crappy PSU, it will start straining with that load long before the 75% margin is crossed. Also...do you plan on OC'ing the GPU at all?

I dont doubt that it will work, just that its not a good idea to make it work. Your so close to the 'edge' of what that psu is capable of, you are just asking for something to go wrong.
