Introduction

For years, we’ve heard that 64-bit was the next “big” thing. It offers support for more memory, potentially doubles performance for certain computationally intensive applications, all while offering full backward compatibility.

Indeed, this was a major selling point for Athlon64 and owners (besides the amazing price/performance ratio which has only been matched recently with the Intel Core 2-based CPUs). 64-bit version of Linux are now the standard, but Windows XP Professional x64 Edition has always been plagued by driver support and software compatibility.

interesting article.

It's an interesting article with a quite an array of hardware, although tbh, there are enough vista "problem" or "horror-story" articles out there.

I've had Vista x64 since it launched and aside from 4gb issue that took a knowledge base article to fix, there have been no problems aside from crappy Nvidia drivers, which exist for x86 and x64.

edit: I would rep you for the interesting article but obviously... you are "un-reppable"
