Vista, so far so good

Thread Starter
Just wanted to let the people making the decision to switch to Vista know that this OS rocks. So far, I got Battlefield 2142 working flawlessly even online, I got F.E.A.R and F.E.A.R XP working aswell. I noticed that F.E.A.R sometimes had a little choppy gameplay but nothing bad, and Battlefield 2142 runs as good as usual. Only thing you need to make sure you do is to right click on the shortcut, click properties, advanced, "run as administrator", if you don't, Punkbuster will kick you all the time for either "losing key packets" or whatever. Also, the OS is extremly stable, I never had a BSOD, I had only one freeze, it was at the login screen right after I cranked up my FSB to 1333MHz, and it never happened again. The OS works great with 2GB of RAM, however, 3GB-4GB would be better. I am running the 32-bit version, I got hardware that was supposed to be "Visa incompatible" completly working, such as my wireless card. This is one solid OS, I highly recommend it! The eye candy is so great, and there are tons and tons of features!

Thanks, I'm sick of the Anti-Vista, Anti-Microsoft thing. It just takes a litlte while to understand how all the things work, but then, it's just great.

I tried it, went back. Unless you have a DX10 card its pretty pointless to go to Vista right now IMO.

I <3 Vista. Installing drivers on a fresh installation at work as we speak, actually. It's a solid OS with a lot of nice features, and it looks pretty to boot.

I know, I love how you already have the mouse working at the beginning of the setup! I have DirectX10 on my PC right now because of Vista, and it seems backwards compatible, unlike what was said, since all my DirectX9.0c (maybe even previous versions) games still work.

Yea, and a lot of people don't even have vista and say it's horrible, and some haven't even tried it once. I loved it at first, too. I won't go and say it's "amazing" now. But, it's not bad, it's good. The first impression is just a lot better

You can turn off just about any security function you choose. UAC is annoying, but again, easily turned off. It's a very good OS that will only get better.
