try adding yourself to the vboxusers group then

sudo useradd -G vboxusers username

then logout and then in.

useradd: user blairellis exists

Tried logging out then in again, no luck.

how did you get this output "useradd: user blairellis exists" since its to add a user to a group and not make a new user.

so you should of typed in:
Code:
sudo useradd -G vboxusers blairellis
If you did that and it gave that error than idk.

Do you happen to now what kernel driver it claims it needs?
If you know it you can try to load it.
sudo modprobe kernel_module

blairellis@dualcore:~$ sudo useradd -G vboxusers blairellis
Password:
useradd: user blairellis exists

blairellis@dualcore:~$ sudo modprobe kernel_module
FATAL: Module kernel_module not found.

Both are copy / pastes.

lol then thats just a bad error message by the program useradd.

you were to replace the work kernel_module with the name of the module virtual box was complaining was missing(or really there but you might not be able to see due to permissions).

as root you could see if the group vboxusers even exist: sudo cat /etc/group | grep "vbox"

If its there you can add your user name to it. to open: sudo gedit /etc/group
Its best not to hand edit that file though unless you really understand it.
