Should I jump to a HD2600XT AGP from my 6800GT?

According to this, the 2600XT comes out one week from today and has a significantly larger shader operations and texture fill rate than my 6800GT. Do you think it would be worth the upgrade? I have a job, but I'm not planning on starting a whole new system until Christmas. I play at 1680x1050 for CS:S but I don't care about not being able to play other games at my native resolution, just that I'd like to have a DX10 video card in ATI flavor. And no, I do not want a 8600 video card. The main question is do you think it's worth the upgrade?

wait til you're doing the upgrade (time = lower prices)

Nah, I'd say stick with what you have until you do a more complete upgrade/new build. Besides, I doubt the 2600XT would be much faster than your 6800GT.

Don't spend the money on an AGP video card right now. 3 years ago, maybe, but now I suggest saving your money until you can do a full upgrade.

AGP greatly limits speed. it doesnt matter much.

Just to put it out there, most PCI-E card don't even use all of the bandwith on AGP AGP doesn't greatly limit speed, its the conversion from PCI-E to AGP that will decrease performance since most cards now are meant for PCI-E than they use something that converts it to AGP. I don't remember much anymore lol.

AGP does not 'greatly limit speeds' there is still plenty of life in the AGP format. And a 6800GT to a 2600XT would be a good upgrade =]
