Help, new rig seems not to be showing up - Page 2

well, from my epic thread long ago, i bought a 512 533mhz RAM stick JUSt to test it, and it did, thus it stayed inside until a few days ago when i removed it and started placing all the powerful and new parts inside, and thus this is what i got.

and i cant do the RMA thingy, cause it was from eBay, and its smeered with dielectric grease. also the original NB cooler for it was removed as well.

Okay, so it is 1100000% the ram.

Can you do this:

Take out both sticks.

Put in one stick test if it posts..

Take it out

Put in the other stick

See if it posts.

Tell us your results!

Not sure but maybe you need to go in bios and raise the voltage and fsb. My geil did not have the right voltage and fsb at the beginning and I had to raise it manually, but ofcourse there was a warning as soon as i opened the box informing me for that. anyway try again with only 1 dimm at different ram slots. I have a problem like that. If I put the RAM I have on the other pair of slots the PC will not even start. It will just start beeping.

Did you try different slots. When you say it doesn't post you can't even go into the bios? If its not the ram then it must be the mobo..

but it cant be the mobo, cause i tested it and it worked! left it for a couple of months later in a case and hanfled it okay afterwards most likely. i would have to hate that it is the mobo, but i will denie it is.

also, i also wonder if i am connecting the panel LEDs correctly, cause im sure i did, but i dont get like the green and red LEDs on, only a yellow one, which pops up once u start the machine, then it iwll tend to go away most of the time later on.

and i have tried different slots, no luck either.

i also resetted the CMOS for a few secs as stated in the manual.

by the way, nothing bleeps either.

and just to clear things about the POST, is it to do with not the monitor coming out of Standby?

Hummm so since its not the mobo and its not the RAMS because it can't be that all the rams you have are bad... ummmm have you tried reseating the CPU? I would say the GPU (vga) too but i doubt its the vga card. Well I do not think the power leds can do something like this >> Short circuiting? THat would be funny. O I know there are 2 power connects for the mobo. One that is the big one with lots of cables and a smaller with 4 that usually goes somewhere around the CPU. Also my mobo takes an extra power connector like the one of the IDE drives. Check that too?

Well posting is supposed to be when the PC shows you something on the monitor so yeah when its not posting it doesn't show anything (standby) but I am not sure.

remove both sticks of RAM, disconnect any DVD or CD drives, floppy, spare peripheral devices that are unneccesary to boot or POST, and you should hear a series of BEEPS warning you that there is no RAM, if that happens then your Mobo is good, place one single stick of ram in the Dimm closest to your CPU, attempt to boot again, you shouldn't hear a beep this time, if this is the case your mobo is detecting RAM in that slot, and thats good. If you get a POST thats even better, go into BIOS and set the RAM voltages to manufacturers recomended settings (e.g 4-4-4-12 2.1v for my HZs) and then save and reboot...If it doesn't POST disconnect the PSU from the power outlet, wait 15 minutes, then with your hands touch the inside of your case, then remove the CMOS battery from the Mobo, then move the CMOS jumper over, let it stay like that for an hour or more and then repace them both and boot again, if this has no effect then I beleive it may be your video card...

the monitor is not coming out of standby which means that its not getting a signal. what kind of gfx card do you have?, also does the monitor have DVI and analog inputs? It would help if you filled in your system specs-- User CP -- edit system (or something similar).
