I Have a Asus P5NSLI Mobo.. and a Hamachi 80GB sata..... i got my WD sata 80GB today and i put it in the second sata slot(hamachi in first) and booted up and it did not add the WD... so I researched google did not help too much so i put in my mobo CD and looked at he nvidia raid setup manual... WELL THAT DID NOT HELP BECAUSE MY BIOS SCREEN IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT THAN ONE IN MANUAL AND MINE DOSNT EVEN HAVE THE OPTIONS ... so i tried to put the nvidia raid disk thing on a disk it did not work with the auto one said could not find floppy and there was no option for CD rom so i copied the files on to cd rom went to boot from cs rom and did not work.... i went to asus site and support and downloads sections are not working they are down and i dont have a ****ing clue what to do i have never setup a raid before all's i wanna do is just add my new HD onto the one i have for more space :*(

I found I couldnt simply add the raid drivers to a WinXP CD. Theres a file you also need to modify using notepad (TXTSETUP.SIF).

This is probably the best article Ive seen on slipstreaming RAID drivers (it worked for me) http://www.maximumpc.com/article/How...P-installation

Btw, Im assuming you have RAID as an option in the BIOS??

I think you are talking about the RAID Setup BIOS of nvidia where you want to put the Disks together to one RAID Array?
When yes - this isn't in the normal BIOS.
In normal BIOS you set SATA Mode to "RAID" (AHCI or IDE should be the default)
Then during boot the should be a text what key bomination is to be pressed to get to the BIOS of the RAID Controller.
[I did never use a nvidia chipset, so I don't know the keys but it is the same with intel boards (CTRL + I) and pci expansion cards (F4 for the one I used)]

Yes; that is windows ;o)
You need a Floppy drive

Or use nLite: http://www.nliteos.com/
to create a copy of your Windows CD with driver included.
Worked for me many times...

Sounds to me like there is no need for RAID!!
with two disks you can go RAID0 or RAID1

RAID1: is like one disks data copied to the other one to prevent data loss, but the spoace of 1 disk

RAID0 (what I think you want to go for): data is striped between the 2 disks.
BUT when setting up RAID0 the data on both disks is lost (your data on the old disk has to be backuped to DVD or whatever).

-------------
I would say:

Just add the 2. Disk as a normal one and put your data there.
Use the first to install (stay with) Windows as well as all apps and games.
And keep dividing applications and data.
That also increases speed.

Also very important is the fact that the 2 disks are different!
So that the speed increase in RAID0 may be not that huge.
Two different disks (manufacturer or model) are hard to handle for the controller -> more work to the cpu, lower speed.

It appears that on the advanced tab in the BIOS the second option is NVRAID. Isn't that it? Found it here http://www.hothardware.com/articles/...dition/?page=3

Is this the BIOS you have? It's for your board according to your sig.

It's under "onboard device configurations". Press enter on that and it says NVRAID.
Anything with a triangle on the left has a sub menu. I'd also look under all the sub menus to see what the board can do.

I believe there may be (however I wish you luck lol)

When I setup RAID on my system in the BIOS I was given an option to save or wipe the data. I selected the 'save' option however as the RAID drivers werent already installed on the OS I had to reinstall windows to insert the drivers.

Im assuming you could get away without losing your data if the drivers were pre-installed but perhaps someone else here can shed a bit more light on that.

I think you should learn more about the different RAID Modi first.
Have a look on Wikipedia or some search engine ;o)

You could use JBOD to put both Disks to one virtual disk.
- Never did it but should keep the data on current disk.
But you can not increase the size of you windows partition.
- partition magic can do it but is not recommended for windows c:\\ partition !
So you will have at least 2 partitions then.

As I sad before: just put the second disk in normal.
And make a partition on it, in windows.
Put your data there and you have more space for new apps/games/programs on your old disk.
