the 2 80GB 7200.10's were only like $40 and double the capacity is only like $55. And as far as Raptors go they spin at 10000 RPM as opposed to 7,200 like most drives so they are much faster- in RAID0 they would be incredibly fast --except they are very expensive.
ok so ure 320 is not part of the raid? does it have any system files on it, or do u just use it to put documents/vids/pics/music in?
NO the 320 is just a backup disc is not part of the array and has no system files on it. I use a 250gb external for the same thing. If you are gonna run raid 0 it is highly recommended you have a backup drive for all music pics and documents you cannot lose.

exactly all the sytem files are on the RAID along with program files and the nonRAID drive carries all my other stuff. works out very well - im happy with the setup- the only thing i regret is that id probably get 2 160GB drives for the RAID as my program files folder is definitely not getting any smaller.

im a little confused on the fact that the raid is only for system files and such; for example, if u go to "My Documents"/"My Pictures"/"My Music", wat drive would u be accessing, the raid ones or the 320?

yea i have it set up to backup my RAID drive to my 320GB drive every 2 weeks. (i just recently discovered the XP backup feature- i thought it would be worthless but its quite nice)

no, in a RAID5 all 3 of the drives would be part of the RAID array -- in mine for example the 320GB drive is just a standard SATA2 drive plugged in next to the RAIDed drives but i did not make it part of the RAID array in the BIOS.
