Next generation consoles too weak for Crysis....

Link- it's kind of old but interesting and may have been posted already but this is the first time that I have seen this.

http://news.teamxbox.com/xbox/11651/...ak-for-Crysis/

I don't understand this because what other consoles besides computers will this game be marketed too? Unless Sony or Microsoft are hiding something this game will only be playable on ultra high end computers if you want the full Crysis experience and without that there is really no point on spending $50for a game....most people can't afford these powerful machines.

Xbox 360- 4 core processor and a dedicated GPU
PS3- 4 core processor and a dedicated GPU
: And yet people are still saying this game can't run on these gaming consoles.

"because the next-generation DirectX API, which will ship along with Windows Vista, allows more effects and more objects to be drawn on the screen with a smaller computational cost for the hardware."

seems a fair answer to me.

"next generation consoles like the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 do not offer the sufficient power” to assure the quality of gameplay Crytek demand for Crysis."

in other words. the game IS dedicated to pc gamers, in a year or so the components needed to play crysis will be alot cheaper, and better still, crysis has been developed to adapt to less able machines. But ultimately, they are trying and succeding to make the most visually impressive game ever made. Using high end DX9 and the most advanced DX10 technology to date. Something which neither the ps3 nor 360 can handle. They cannot produce "the quality of gameplay Crytek demand for Crysis" so in their view it is not worth porting to consoles. Crysis being exclusive to PC will always withhold its position as a revolution in modern gaming. If it were on console it would be toned down and their efforts gone to waste.

They've said a GTX rig with an e6600 will run high-ultra graphics settings.

Not to nitpick but Xbox360 had a 3 core processor and PS3 has 8 cores with a 9th that is reserved and isn't really used.

Crysis is an Optimised game. Crytek has stated that To play on ultra high an Nvidia 8800GTX and an Intel Core2Duo E6600 Is needed. Thats Very very very good news to everyone because it shows that if a game is coded well and optimised right it dosent take a super rig to run the game.

Crysis is just entering beta stage... it's got a lot of optimizations to go through before it's released, which will allow it to be played on less powerful machines.

HOWEVER, Crytek has stated that Crysis will be a PC-Only game. CryEngine 2, which Crysis is being built on, is coming to PS3, but Crysis is not.

To be honest, Far Cry should have NEVER hit console either.

The game for PC was awsome, amazing graphics for its time, and really they still are pretty.

But even on the 360, the graphics are horrid. I was majorly disappointed.

Oh I'm pretty sure the Xbox360 and the PS3 could handle Crysis very well, they're just being fanboys over at Crytek. Give me a reason why not ? The Xbox360 is already running the Unreal 3 engine and Lost Planet, which is a DX10 game, if I'm not mistaken.
