E4300 Temperature

Thread Starter
I'm not having a problem with my temperature as of now, but i'm wondering if i'll need to get a new cooler to facilitate the jump from 2.02 GHz to >3.0. My idle temperature for my e4300 is 37 degrees Celsius, while my load temps are around 51. What is the highest safe temperature for the e4300? And will I need to buy a good cpu cooler? I'm planning on that big typhoon. Remember this is at my current speed of 2.02 GHz.

It doesn't have to be a top-end cooler, most aftermarket coolers by a trusted brand will delivery substantially better cooling, and 3.0GHz isn't going to push it too much.

i could suggest several.

Thermalright ultra 120 extreme (make sure you strap on at least 1x120mm)
Sunbeam Tuniq Tower
Thermalright Ultra 120
Thermaltake Big Typhon

they are normally the higher performing tower coolers, make sure you measure you case up as they may not fit.
but yes, upgraded cooling is required

Can anyone out there answer the OP's question about the highest safe temp for the E4300?

I'm very interested in that as well, as I have an E4300 using the stock cooler in my rig right now running just over 3GHz @ 1.344 vCore. My Idle temps are in the mid to high 30's as well, and we won't talk about my load temps under Orthos.

Intel states the max T_case temp for E4300's is around 61.4C.. The problem is TAT, CoreTemp, SpeedFan, all read the DTS information.. I have no word yet as to what reads the T_case, or any idea what the max DTS is.. I am waiting for a response from Intel... I imagine that I will only get the T_case information from them again..

Try running Everest.. Everest should (depending on your T_junction) read about 7C higher than speedfan, and 7c-10c lower than TAT and CoreTemp.. See if those temps look more realistic to you.. I compared Everest to my own thermal sensor I placed on my IHS.. Everest was the closest to my thermal sensor's results.. For me, I think Everest is reading the T_case..

Everyone else that is using TAT or CoreTemp are saying stay below 70C.. I would agree with that b/c when I load test and hit 61C with Everest, I am reading 70C with CoreTemp and TAT..

*shrug*
I've had my E4300 (@ 3.0GHz) up to 77C several times (using Orthos). No issues, errors, or complications. Idle (speedstep, C1 enabled) is 43C (at 1.40v in BIOS, ~1.3 to 1.35 measured with CPU-Z, Speedfan). Normal working conditions (office, email, Doom3) I see temps around 50-55C.

Edit: Speedfan shows my max temp about 68-69C. TAT and CoreTemp readings appear too high by about 10-12C both at idle and 100%.

The highest temp intel suggests is 61.4C Here you go http://processorfinder.intel.com/det...px?sSpec=SL9TB

Also being too hot doesn't always means errors and instability it just means that it shortens the CPU's life.
