Oh so you don't HAVE a firewire connection? Are you feeding the signal through Composite? Red Yellow, White?

In my experience a 15.00 firewire PCI card works fine from Ebay. I've got one in my Sig Rig and it works in XP and OS X just fine. Never had an issue streaming hi-definition footage from my camera into Final Cut Studio.

Just about any firewire card will work, including the NewEgg link.

Also, USB isn't so bad for feeding a video signal, just go Firewire if you have the ability to do so. There are digital video acquisition methods that produce results on par with 16mm film streaming over a constant USB 2.0 Connection to Mac Mini's.

Firewire? You may see results, I'm willing to wager that your camera settings aren't optimal, though.

MiniDV and Digital Video in general needs hosts of light. Exceptions exist, but keep that in mind if your footage is looking dark and muddy.

If you want a web cam, might be best to buy one separately, as well.

Yeah, things always look okay in the LCD. Lol. It's a learning process, the shooting of digital footage or images in general.

You can't trust that LCD! But, try a Firewire Cable and see if that works better for ya!
