Obviously this 4d would be the imagination of the producer of the graphics. Because it is of course the situation they create as to where the dust would fall.. where spider webs form and other things. What would be a good use for something like this instead of just the "imagination" of the producer. Would be in MMORPG's like WoW. Where what every player does in the fictious world affects the world in realtime. Then it would be the effects of the player and not just the atmospheric conditions made up in the game (obviously those would still play a part as well though). A new race could be formed.. The Cleaning elves! Otherwise I see no real use for this in anything else except for the cool factor.

Comparing the number of cores on different CPUs is like comparing GHz on different CPUs...it just doesnt work that way. Plus you really only have 5 or 6 cores availible to the game on the PS3.

Yeah, that's not really 4D. They're not actually simulating the decay of objects. It's just a couple of textures replacing the textures from the previous moment of time. The models aren't even being morphed. And even if they did, it'd still not really be "4D". 4D even sounds redundant on the topic of graphics, time/aging would be a CPU-intensive operation.

Orson Scott Card's "Ender" series utilizes all ten dimensions and the String Theory during it's story. It's pretty amazing.

I wonder what it would be like if we could build a computer program to chose at random the textures that fit the space of the objects in the game to get a totally different looking chair/desk/other highly re-used object in the game, instead of seeing the same chair/desk over and over and over again.

Wasn't really anything great if you ask me. Me thinks its just a way for them to say the PS3 is better, that everyone needs to go buy one if they want to play in 4D(laughs), and to justify already owning one.
