well, i plan on getting a ultra 120 and a q6600, should i even bother trying to lap the CPU

I would not lap the CPU only for one reason. To not lose the warranty. If you do not care about the warranty then do it. It will gain you a lot since lapping will get you much lower temps that it would to another CPU since the temps are higher than any usual CPU. Anyway since you will be on air you should try to get every bit of extra cooling but for the warranty loss it doesn't worth it.
