Temps too HIGH???

Thread Starter
Im a noob so im not sure what temps my cpu is supposed to be hitting. btw my ambient temp is around 22-24C

i tried over clocking for the first time the other day and the highest i could safley get my cpu (e6600 2.4) was around 2.88 becuase my temps were hitting around
63C under full load. at least i think they were,

im using pc probe II
Core Temp
and AI booster, (asus OC tool)

pc probe and AI booster both display about 5-6 degrees higher than core temp, is there a really reliable program for the temp of my cpu? becuase 6degrees can make alot of difference. Im using a zalman 9500 and an asus pn532-e mobo just seems like thats too hot. any suggestions?

63 is OK, but still too hot for my tastes. I'd try to keep it under 55c.

Try Intel TAT.

Are you using stock cooling?

Also, dont use Ai Booster. OC like a man through the bios, not like a boy through fancy useless software.

Yeah man, don't use any OS based overclocking tools. Unless you feel like having to reinstall your OS a couple of times before you get it right. I know I had to because of my first time overclocking using AI Booster with my Asus A8N32-Sli Deluxe. Then again it was my first "wrecker" board that I was learning to overclock with anyway. Boy did I eventually smoke that one.

HA, way to put it bluntly Intervention. Before I found this site and decided to start OCing like a man, I would just open up my Ai Booster, or whatever the flavor was on my board, and set it to 10% OC. Click go, and then feel good about myself for my brilliant overclock.

Intervention is correct. You will have much more control of you overclocking when using the BIOS. It will take some time to figure out, but you will be happy you did in the end. There is a lot of information on this site so spend the time and read some of the FAQs on getting started, then you should be set.
