Suggestions for a new build please

Thread Starter
Ok, I'm looking to upgrade my current motherboard, cpu, and ram. I want to try to stay at ~$400 USD (cheaper if possible). I want at core 2 duo that can reach 2.7-3.0GHZ or higher with a motherboard and DDR2 800 ram to match it. Please suggest. Reps for helpful people.

right around 400

(sorry about the motherboard having to be open box, but its a really good one for the money considering it is 80 dollars less than retail)

Wow, thats so weird. I just put together that same build while waiting for someone to reply. I just wish it wasn't open box because I don't have the money right now. I just bought my hd2900xt. I was also considering the Gigabyte ds3 revision 1.3 motherboard. How is that one?

I don't know much about that one, but I know that gigabyte makes great boards so you can't really go wrong with one

Anyone else have any good build suggestions?
the ds3 is a great mobo. i personally would suggest going to 1 gig of ram for now so you can get a better proc. the e6320's have not been getting very good overclocks. i would wait for the july 22 price cuts and get an e6600. you can get another gig of ram later

Whats the E6600 going down too? I can spend a little over $400.

Nobody knows what any of the CPU's are going down to retail. It's all just being repeated from estimated sources of what I think are Lot prices.

Might just want to wait until someone releases an actual price.

I probably won't be upgrading until next month anyways. I really want a processor thats cheap but is noticeably faster than my current one. I also want to upgrade to DDR2 ram (I'm still using DDR lol).

DFI Infinity P965-S Motherboard - $130
Intel Core 2 Duo E4300 Processor - $117
2x1GB of G. Skill DDR2-800 HZ Ram - $115

Total: $362 before Shipping and Taxes

This might have 2MB of L2 Cached, compared to the E4320's 4MB of Cache, but, it's a lot cheaper. I would highly recommend you save up money and get a Tuniq Tower 120 and Arctic Silver 5 as your next upgrade.

Overclock (with stock cooler):

400FSB; 1:1 FSB : DRAM Ratio; 2800MHz 24/7

Overclock (with Tuniq Tower):

400FSB; 1:1 FSB : DRAM Ratio; 3600MHz 24/7
