New build suggestions. AMD or Intel?

Hi.

ok this is for my high end gaming computer and this is the deal. im looking to built a system that everyone would really want to own. im willing to spend around 1300 bucks.im not sure which one is better so i thought i would get ur help since u guys know the system very well.
im not sure which one i should get. either intel or amd.
can u guys suggest for each and every part to built this beast. my own prefrence for video card is evga 8800 GTS 640mb with low clock speed cause its cheaper and i could always over clock it to high settings.
ok lets see what u guys have to say reguarding high end gaming performance for that budget.
all i need to know is what i parts should i get and what should i stick with either intel or amd for high performance gaming?
i would want a case that i could either stick with air cooling or if i wanted then i should be able to use water cooling. nice big case
personally i just love the antec 900 that i currently own cause it looks good and really dont need the water cooling system in that case. just wanted to know ur input on it.
thanks in advance and rep+ for all responses.

If this rig is strictly for Games, I would look into SLI and put your $ in to dual 8800 ser. cards. You could even go lower end on the cpu and mb, and the $ will be much better spent on games.

not totaly
sli's 8800 is like a bandwagon... and how much does it cost to sli 2 of these? minus the board ram etc... only gpu.. too much for a top end gaming rig... instead sli 2 8600gts and buy good ram and wait for the intel price cut and get something high end dunno wich one... still lost with intel naming scheme lol :O

Stop mentioning SLI/Crossfire One card is enough for maximum gaming.

I would say hold on to your current system until Barcelona and Penryn are out, then decide. Right now, Intel wins. When Barcelona's out, who knows? Now is not the best time to put a lot of money into a system if you like being on the cutting edge. If you want to be able to play brand new games, all you need is an 8800GTS and you have a rig capable of about any game out there right now, and probably early DX 10 games, too. C2D is overkill compared to AMD for gaming in most instances, and AM2 is a minimal performance gain over 939. I would say get a 640 MB 8800GTS, and then just save the rest of your money, add to that pile of money over the next year, and then we will truly know who is winningthe next gen race.
