8800GTX Ultra review shows close performance w 2900XT - Page 2

Erm, stalker was awesome.......lol

Even if the 2900XT did win, it wouldn't justify the money

You would first have to buy a new PSU that had an 8pin PCI-E cable so that you could OC it

Or you could buy a 8800GTX and OC it with a 6 pin PCI-E cable

(that was a non fan boy opinion)

Wow.

I was actually planning on going 2900xt since I was so happy with my x1950pro, but based on the initial 2900xt benches I ended up going with an 8800gts instead. Based on these benches I would say that the XT is more in the GTX class than the GTS now, making it one heck of a bargain. Good job on the drivers ATI.

DUUUUUDE you aren't lying! That's how I ran across this review. I was looking for the 8800GTX and the 2900XT performance in the game. It's retarded....I may not be able to run my monitor's native res of 1920*1080.....bah

I'll probably end up getting two 2900XT or one XTX and one XT if it will work. That is....after the prices go down and I actually need it

I was just pretty shocked at how close the 2900XT and the 8800GTX Ultra were.

EDIT:
I wasn't agreeing that stalker was a crappy game. It in fact has some great lighting effects, story line/gameplay, and textures (mainly the bump mapping)....
however it's nowhere near efficient.
Off topic, but here is a mod for the shader engine. It optimizes it while adding some IQ to the mix. IMO if an individual D3D progger can help it out, then the game was rushed by the marketing team at the publisher. I'm waiting for Crossfire support stil.....:\\

Pretty much exactly what I'm thinking too.

Think it's about time for Nvidia to drop the 8800 series price, by a lot... A $400 card getting close to a $600+ card.
