Well, those issues are related to the drivers and the chipset. I've done it several times without issue and twice i had a problem. (both times with the same P4P800 baord.) If the board has the same chipset your odds are good.

how would i know if its the same chip set, my current mobo is below, and my new one will be a P5k Deluxe

The boards are not the same chipset.

(not ever in the same universe. LOL)

I've swapped mobos once without having to. They were the same chipset though I uninstalled every card, the mobo drivers, the USB drivers, network drivers...EVREYTHING. and it worked. but if they are nont the same chipset i think you may be SOL. just buy an external and backup what you need.

I did it from a AMD 939 to a 754 if you can believe that... Both ASUS boards, but different CPU skts. I was shocked when it worked.

if it doesnt work, ill but a new hd, install an operating system, then get an image software program and make an exact image of my old hd to my new one, will that work

or

go for a raid setup (2x500) and re-install EVERYTHING (thatd take a whole weekend)
I would only do it on a fresh install. Like install windows on one mobo... then turn off the PC and swap the other in.
