Can I Get This Msi K9vgm-v To Overclock?

Hey people, just wanna say hello and glad to be a new member to overclocking.net. I have a problem trying to push this cpu higher than 2.39 by just using the fsb. I would bump it up 5 to 10mh at a time with no testing and after an hour or two the pc would just cut out, i mean just shut down but the only thing would be one flashing light just above the power button on my NZXT APOLLO case. After weeks of ramdon shut downs i figured out what was causing the SD. When i had core temp running that was when i would have SDowns so i deleted coretemp and all has been well ever since. So can someone help me get this baseboard to overclock to at least 2.4 or 2.5? I can give you more info if (my system) is not enough. Please let me know... and thanks for all your help....

Well it depends on if you have CPU voltage control and control of your HTT, as your motherboard has an SiS chipset I doubt you could really overclock much or at all. If you still can definatly return your motherboard and pickup a Biostar TForce 550 as it's dirt cheap and a good overclocking board.

If you can adjust those settings then do this.

Drop your HTT speed to 4x
increase your CPU's FSB until it will no longer post, then increase CPU voltage
Unless your ram is GSkill HZs I doubt it will go much over 800mhz so drop the ram speed down to 667 and work your way up

yea, its not very stable. run Orthos or prime 95 as a stability test. Also, coretemp is known to crash many systems that are otherwise stable...i reccomend Everest for temp monitoring.

and follow what Penicilyn says as far as overclocking goes

Well this is what i have to work with/ settings for the FSB, the memory voltage (1.8-2.2), and the LDT- auto, 1gb,800mh,600mh,400mh,200mh. I do not see unless it's worded differently the adjustment for the cpu voltage. Can we still get a little overclock out of this board?
