my 2 cents:

every time i use vista i have to tell it to do simple tasks 2 sometimes 3 times because it assumes i can't be trusted to maintain my own system.

when i use XP i tell it to do something, and it's done.

yes i do see that vista has potential, but as many tech sites still seem to be saying, vista seems like it needs another year before it will be working the way it was intended to.

(techARP article from earlier today...)

Everyone is correct. You are all arguing an opinion and Everyone is right. Unless you are a tard. XP is good cause were all used to it and its been around forever, So everything works nice. Vista is gonna take time to be created into a usable system for every type of person and program. No matter how big a Business you have or how rich, a new OS is gonna miss a whole lot of stuff right off the bat. You try to make drivers for 100 000 types of web cams, key board, games, graphics card, and so on. Xp was the not as bad but the same problems arose when it came out. If you want 100% of everything you own to run 100% when you bought Vista you are on glue. thats why you have options like run in XP mode, not hard to click a box until the games are updated. Xp wasn't super till sp2.

Also its like a 100% dedicated Windows user switching to Mac. It takes time to get used to. We all know XP inside out Tweaked up the hole! Vista will come around!

In the few months Vista's been around its increased compatibility 2 fold.

Time Heals LOL

I said in my big post that I have vista ultimate, yet 3 people go ahead and say "You probably don't even have vista."

...

Not only that, some of you are seeing it as I completely hate vista, I like it, but I'm having so many problems.

I'm running vista x64. I love it!!

The only cons for me:
  1. It devours ram (just bought 2GB)
  2. I can't find printer drivers for my lexmark printer, but I'm blaming that more on Lexmark
  3. Nvidia drivers are not quite there yet

Other than that, its totally worth it.

Marvelous list as well by the way!

How about you actually try Vista before flaming it, have you not realised that most people on these forums who have Vista seem to think it runs perfectly fine and alot think it is better than XP (myself included)

1. With 2gb you should be fine
2. That is the reason i got rid of my Lexmark printer and got my HP laser printer
3. They aren't quite there yet but they are slowly but surely getting there

The only problems i have had with vista is some software compatability problems but now they are all sorted and most where down to user error, so before people flame vista try it on a decent system first and then try to complain on how it "eats RAM"

vista makes everything so much harder. I played around with a fresh install of ultimate for a couple hours, and found just as many problems. Of course, there's the usual hassles involved with a new OS, such as half your stuff not working at all, and certain levels of unfamiliarity, but that's to be expected, and is forgiven.

But it seems like everything takes one extra step to do. Downloading a file, opening a file, running a program, changing the desktop resolution, changing your wallpaper, printing a photo... it's like living in a house where everything is 2 feet too tall, and you need a stepstool to get at anything.

And before any of you say "you can change all that to be configured the way you like it!" It just doesn't seem right to me that I myself have to fix an OS that came with decreased functionality. ='(

the most unintelligient thing i have EVER heard, regardless of context (I personally like XP better, have used every single version of Vista at various summer jobs coding and such, its ok but not great yet, it could be in the future but thats up to M$ entirely)

but saying that just because ppl complain about it something is wrong is stupid. and only ppl on OCN are complaining about it a lot you cannot even try to say that that represents the general population OCN is a small subset of special ppl
