q6600 quad core OC to 4.0Ghz?

Thread Starter
is it possible to overclock a q6600 quad core to 4.0 Ghz on air cooling, with an Ultra 120 heatsink/cooler, and three 120mm fans?

wat temps would u expect to get?
I highly doubt it. I know there was this guy from some Israeli forums who broke the record for an oc'ed qaud on air. He did 4.1Ghz on air, but that was a Q6700.

To get it there? I don't think it's too far-fetched. Especially with new revisions.

I bet with the right board and 1 gig of ram you could do it. But your load temps would be mid to high 70's easy. xD

Your X1950's are going to heat up your case like no other. I had an X1950XT 512mb and I swear it added 3-4c to my freakin' CPU temps just from pouring heat into the case.

If you want to break a record, go with the on-board video (I think you can do this). 1 gig of ram and open cased with the case on it's side.

I bet with the P5K you'll get 4.0ghz and if you take the time to seat properly over and over again, wait it out a week or two for the AS5 to wear in...

Mid 70's, give or take 5c depending on your Ambients and how well the 120mm fans perform.

All speculation though!

After you apply AS5 on the heatsink let it wear in since it takes time to lower your temps.

Knitelife, a member of our own, sits at 4.1ghz. Course he's phased and all.

If you wanna spend the time grinding for the temps on air, you can do it!
