Rig SHUTDOWN!! Post "HERE" if you leave your RIG on 24/7

Thread Starter
Switched this to see who leaves there rig on 24/7 and has had to replace PSU and when....!!!!!

ORIGINAL POST ---->

While sleeping last night, my computer shutdown by itself, and today won't turn on. The mobo is still getting power, the LED is lit, and the numerical display, a feature of my board, is still on as well.

I go to power up, and it ATTEMPTS to start, but in less than a second shuts right off. I've turned off main switch, pulled A/C, nothing seems to fix.

Any thoughts? Power supply, failed h/d, etc?

Thanks!!!

I say PSU, if it was the HD, the computer would still turn on, it just would only get past the BIOs screen and then hang.
'bout time.

I agree, try swapping a PSU in.

PSU. If its shutting back down that fast. Most likely your PSU.

Yup PSU more than likely...just make sure all of the leads (turn on lead and all that) are connected to your mobo before buying a new one though....one of them could've come loose.

Other than the PSU, have you tried to reset CMOS? This will clear your BIOS and put it back into factory default

1. Locate a silver circular battery on your motherboard.
2. Remove that battery.
3. Let it sit there without the battery for up to one minute or more
4. Put back in the battery and boot back up.

Try that ~

my guess is PSU as well. if you have a multimeter handy, check it out

i've had my fair share of HD issues, and i 2nd Xerasyte's observation.

i don't think it's memory since you'd get a POST error rather than sudden cut-off. the other things don't quite scream "it's me!". and i don't think your HSF would suddenly come off on its own so i don't think it's emergency thermal shutdown.

you could do a CMOS clear real quick to see if the BIOS went corrupt or something, but that's doubtful.

edit---------------------
i used to leave my comp on all the time using an old 520w Raidmax PSU, which i replaced after 6-7 months. but i've never had the comp shut off unless i loaded it with a system-intensive game.
i actually even used that PSU for a budget commission build, 1 yr later and it's still fine.
