Battlefield 2142 Widescreen 1680x1050?

Thread Starter
*** it doesn't support it? I found a shortcut command line +szx 1680 +szy 1050 but what the hell.

Why didn't this game come with 16:10 support?

Because some people argue that widescreen gives you an advantage

I think the real advantage goes to the people with 4:3 monitors, even with the cmd line settting my FOV is a bit off. and if i just run @ a standard res everything looks stretched bleh!

that is a FACT. It DOES give an unfair advantage. BF2 is the same way thankfully.

I agree that is does give an advantage, but calling it unfair is similar to saying someone with a high-end graphics card running at max detail has an unfair advantage as well. Sight distance, clarity, and resolution all would give someone an advantage, too. But they don't restrict detail levels or high-end video cards.

Besides, a high end video card is going to cost you a lot more than buying a 19" widescreen monitor.

There is also I feel a limit to this advantage as the bigger screen you eye has to physically move to look from one side of the screen to the other.

I notice this playing Call of Duty2 on xbox 360...

On the smaller screen all the action is directly in front of you, yet if I play it on my 24" or the 42" plasma then people pop up way over on the sides of the screen and sometimes you dont notice them.

^ Thanks for adding to my argument, intentionally or not. I really think the wide screen restriction thing has very little merit, and it's irritating as well.

I don't use widescreen but i have to agree with the both of you..
Using a widescreen monitor does not give you a 'advantage' the
amount of time spent moving your mouse side to side makes up
for the lack of widescreen anyway lol. People just like to pick
at things like this because they have nothing better to do or..
coz they gets pwned alot.

ZOMG YOU RUN AT LOW SETTINGS AND THUS YOUR GAMING
EXPERIENCE IS DIFFERENT TO MINE COZ YOU DOUSNT SEE TEH
GRASS I WAS HIDING IN AND IT WAS EASY TO KILL ME -_-

See how anything can become a unfair advantage? it's just stupid tbh.

Widescreens are not hacks people!!!!111 < intentional ones to show my anger
