Itel conroe E6320 ... go baby go ....

Thread Starter
Hi ,

I just got a Conroe E6320 + Asus P5k + 1GB DDR2 PC6400 ,

Please help me to achieve ultimate performance , , , I know I know ,
guides, they give me a headache... I need simulations , from other people with these specs ...

On CPU-z I currently see CPU Voltage 1.216v (fluctuating) ^^
Also , I am going easy with the oC , just 273.8 Mhz. In the Memory section , which is all but clear to me , I see 4 :5 342.2 Mhz ,

Please guide me a bit On how to tweak this baby , so I can remember it for the future, and please if you want to tell me more about the CPU and overclocking it , please do /....

Thanks

... you should have a quick read through the guides... even if it is just to see some of the DO's and DON'Ts...

... but I will start you off by suggesting you go to the BIOS and disable Speedstep (it is there to save power by cutting the CPU's multiplier when idle so help save on energy... but it is widely encouraged for this to be disabled when OCing to achieve a more stable OC)...

But there is still a lot you can do... (and maybe if you are very lucky someone will spell it out to you in no uncertain terms, however it isn't going to be me... )

is there really any truth to that. I have had speedstep enabled for sometime without any loss in max overclock or stability.
if this doesn't effect the overclock or stability and this is just an assumption that it would then really we are just costing us more in the logn run since with speedstep enabled the cpu will use less power when not under load creating less heat so the cpu should live a little longer and it would use less voltage and power helping out with electricity consumption as well.

...like I said this is the first thing that I was told when joining and looking to OC my C2D and it was posted by quite a few people after in threads I was reading related to this and have a look at all the Intel FAQ on OC and in most it is mentioned... so I dunno what proof there is... maybe some of the more knowledgeable OC'ers can assist...

it's ok. it very well might be true but I haven't noticed any harm from using speedstep and so I wondered. and you know how things spread once one person says them also.
