New PSP Firmware Restores Original Clock Speed

According to QJ's "insider" at Sony, firmware version 3.50 allows UMD games to use the full 333MHz of the PSP. If true, this is great news but brings up a few questions. Using the total available processing power will potentially allow for smoother framerates and quicker load times. The problem, however, comes with the battery life. The reason games are locked to 266mhz (only one game has been allowed to use even that much - Ratchet and Clank: Size Matters) is due to the very limited battery life when the PSP runs at full speed.

that or sony will get sued because the PSP will overheat and catch fire or burn someone.

I think the article was saying that only R&C has used the (previous) full 266, other games didn't even use that much.

This could be the beginning of a move to put better batteries in new PSP's.

already ran 333Mhz. They should make Memory sticks where there locked but containe a Sony game. Thus making faster loading and Saves alot of battery life

Older games do NOT run at that speed as some of you think, they still run at the lower speeds, only newer games will be allowed to run at faster speeds, if the developers choose...Anyways this is old in the mod community as on custom firmwares you can choose what speed to run games.
