I should have more info on temp monitoring with C2D's sometime today..

Intel so far has said to use their Thermal Specification Chart to find your cpu's max temps.. However they use the T_case for this.. So with almost all C2D's the max T_case is 61C.. But again Intel says the T_case, not DTS..

Speedfan, TAT, and CoreTemp all read the DTS information.. They read directly from the core.. Older methods (T_case) read from near the core or IHS... So DTS to me would be a higher temp then what we are use to..

I ran many thermal tests of my own with my own thermal sensor placed on the IHS.. I found that my reading was just a little lower than Everest's reading.. For me, I think Everest is closest to T_case.. I know for a fact that on my system Everest is reading my IHS (or close to it).. Under load Everest reads 60C and at the same time TAT and CoreTemp read 71C...

I am waiting for a response from Intel today on this.. I asked two questions that should clear this up..

Q1: Is the "T_case" under Intel's Thermal Specification Chart the same as the DTS information?

Q2: If DTS is different, does Intel have a Thermal Specification for DTS max?

I'll let you know what they say... Until then give Everest a try and see what you think.. IMO there should be about a 10C difference between Everest and TAT/Coretemp.. But I could be wrong as I haven't tested this on anything but 965P chipsets....

come on someone help me i baffled by this i dont wanna knack my cpu up atm when i aint got much cash as it is. does anyone think that i will be able to get to 3ghz cos that was my goal when i got it. if i need better cooling then i will buy some but atm i think my Freezer 7 pro is doing quite well, im using arctic silver 5 and i purified the heatsink and processor so i know its clean

if there are any settings i need to change can someone tell me then i will have the clock that i really want, ps does anyone think it is worth overclocking my memory at the same time, but i dont mean linking it up again i just mean sticking the clock speed up to 900 maybe?

cheers

Read this.. Its for the 4300 but most things should still apply to the 4400.. Only thing really different is the 10x multi on the 4400.. The 4300 has a 9x multi..

Again read the first post and the rest of this thread.. Pay attention to the Overclocking portion of the first post..

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ions-here.html

And don't worry about bumping your own thread inside of 24hrs.. IDK why anyone would care enough to get on you about it, then go as far as to NOT provide anything to help you.. I say bump away if you really need the help...

im still having problems getting it past 2.7, atm

here is a link for CPUz
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc?id=211445

i dunno why it shows my ram to be at 5-5-5-18 when its 4-4-4-12 but oh well im not concerned about that atm

anyway i can boot at 2.8with a BIOS vcore of 1.41 but it droops soo i need to know what voltage i need to get it up to 3ghz stable

the vcore can vary greatly from chip to chip, just nudge it up abit by .025volts or whatever the smallest increments are on that board, and don't worry about cpu-z, it doesn't always read your ram correctly, don't know why, and as for temps you gotta kinda do your own research and diagnosing as no one really has it set in stone what program monitors them to a tee. but in my case speedfan gives me the closest results.

i still cant get mine past 2.85ghz, ive tried to put the voltages 1.525 but it will only come up as 1.2v on CPU-Z so i dunno what the hell is going on

with the Vdroop it goes to about 1.43 i think so. my temps are ok but i mite try and lapp the cooling.

ive seen youre clock on a 4300 at 3ghz so i thought it would be slightly easier

any tips would be great.

Read up DAWG

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...ing-guide.html

http://www.overclock.net/intel-cpus/...rclocking.html

-last guide is confusing, basically, if you get completely stuck, up fsb by about 50 or so. If it doesnt work, raise vcore once. If still, play with it, but you may not be limited by a strap. I know I hit a strap at 3.0

Also, here is a pic. Don't know how helpful it is. My biggest advice is lower vcore by alot lol. Look at mine...
