X-FI FATAL1TY drivers being a buzzkill!!!

Thread Starter
So I just reinstalled windows and all I'm trying to do is reinstall the drivers for my X-FI Fatal1ty.

Of course it won't work, last night in the middle of the installation, I was multi-tasking(yes I know), and my comp froze and I rebooted. Well this morning I tried to reinstall the drivers but it stops in the middle and says something like:

"You already installed these drivers, you need to reboot to continue"....<~it was something like that, but like anyone I rebooted, and like everyone, it didn't work.

So I tried again, and same problem.

Any ideas?

check in Add/Remove programs and see if you can remove any creative stuff and then try to install again.

Oh dammit, you just reminded me what I left out. I did check in there and on my HD's for any trace of creative stuff, and there isn't.

Sorry about that.

Try using Driver Cleaner Pro. Run the program in safe mode to remove all traces.

Then reboot and see if it shows the error.

Alternatively you may try this , i.e., how Creative recommends you do it.

Also I agree with tUDJ, since you just reinstalled XP, it shouldn't be too much of a pain reinstalling it and it might just save you a lot of trouble.

Lol, I've had a good week and a half to get to this point. And that program didn't work. Here is the exact message:

"You have previously installed drivers without rebooting. Please reboot and try again."

Plus, I don't have time to reinstall windows because I'm on a project deadline. I'm just not understanding why a simple driver installation is causing such a ruckuss.
