Help with with modem - Page 2

Yeah, I was going to say. I'm pretty sure you can't get standard consumer broadband at 100Mbps, that is basically 1MBps which is more like T1+.

the only thing you can is by fiberoptic. But thats a different story and he would have a different modem

ALso the ethernet connection is 100mbps not your internet
More specifically it is your Local Area Connection. The NIC inside your computer, and that's the speed it's capable of handling.

A) Ok, is your computer hooked up directly to your modem? Or do you have a router between the two?

B) What connection type to AT&T do you make? (EG. PPPoE, DHCP, Static IP?)

C) What connection speed with AT&T are you subscribed for? (Remember, it's not the 100Mbps thing)

We'll start with those questions first and take it from there. You may be able to just keep your money and buy something more useful.

OK, you should be getting:
Downstream Speed: Up to 6.0 Mbps
Upstream Speed: Up to 768 Kbps

When you run a speed test, what are the actual speeds you're getting?

speakeasy.net

Take your pick...There are other sites out there as well. Just choose the location closest to you and test.
Give us an upload and a download speed.
