video cards that require 6-pin power usually come with adapters. you'll want the g-card in there if you want to see if the computer POSTs.

I could always use the IGP that comes with the mobo I'm only testing to see if the stuff works.

you should be okay as long as its enough wattage, from what ive read it is. go for it!
