MMk So my PC is dying :( - Page 2

That is more than I could ever ask for
BTW: Are there any real advantages in paying the extra cash for an E6600? Its a big price difference, and if i can hit 3.5Ghz on the chip i picked lol.

That's a tough call like always.

As you know, there is more than hitting 3.5GHz than just the mobo. If you're LUCKY, the E6320 can do it....and if you're LUCKY (maybe a little less lucky), you can do so with an E6600.

Not all weeks are equally capable... there are some real duds in the 'F' series of weeks, while my 'G' does really well... plus, there is a new on upcoming that is supposed to sweep the floor with anything out now (not sure if that also goes for dual cores, or if that's only a quad core stepping)...

Sounds familiar to my opteron. I got the best stepping I could've gotten but the week mine was manufactured there was a slight differance and because of that I got stuck at 2.7GHz rather than 3.0GHz like all the rest of them.

But in general the E6320 is a less of a clocker than the E6600?

EDIT:
Quote:
CAB2E: All weeks are hitting about 3.0ghz+ except the 0546 FPDW, which has never been seen above 2.8ghz, even at 1.6v.
Thats my stepping, it even made it to overclock.net's exceptions list.

Thank you guys for the support.
I truly hate supporting monopolies like Intel and Microsoft (piracy!) but the performance differanance per-clock, plus the obviously larger amount of OCing headroom is hard to deny.
I guess I'll just have to buy a new AMD system come January/February when AMD quadies become semi-mainstreamed. It'll be nice having such a sick computer until then, tho.
I've got my first paycheck coming next week, and I've got a buyer for my RAM. By the 14th of next month I should have it ordered and ready to go, at which point I'll post some bencheis for you all.

EDIT: Hmm Im sitting here debating on weather or nor I should dish out the extra sash for Corsair again. I'd be looking to go for the cheapest 2GB Dominator set, which I know would be good for up to 2.4v if i was able to push my FSB to the 600MHz area, I'm thinking I'd probably have better luck with these than the G.Skills. Any opinions?

EDIT 2: Hmmm I'm on newegg again, I found these OCZ sticks which look equally as promising as the Corsair ones because of the Reaper heatspreader. Any opinions?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227191

EDIT 3: In any case the G.Skills seem to be the best bang for buck because they are so much cheaper, but does anyone think it may be worth the money for either of the other pairs?
