Help Overclocking An Old Amd

Thread Starter
ok...

i have and old AMD Duron 1.1GHZ and i want to OC it. the motherboard is cheap so the only option in it is to raise the fsb from 100 to 133 (the multi is 11) which will give it a clock of 1463 mhz. i have tried that but it will not post with these settings. i have also tried some programs to OC it but none of them work with it. does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Charbs

Get CPU-Z @ www.cpuid.com and see what core it is.
Core dependant, you may be able to hard wire or cut the appropriate bridges to get it to run at a higher default FSB with a lower multiplyer and more voltage.
Nope, it's not all that easy
If it's a TBred core you may be able to pull it off...

WEll. The Durons only use one core Duke

DURON! lol. (as far as I know)

And I reckon they were always unlocked.
Thing is - your board apparently cant adjust multi friend... which doesnt make for much Ocing at all.

Your problem is quite likely you RAM. What kind are you using?
DDR?/ SD?

Durons can take 133 easy (THATS STOCK).
Which quite likely means, that your duron is actually NOT a 1.1, but a 1.4. I've never heard of any durons in the 600-900 (which I have had exp with) running at that speed, muchless the 1GHZs and over.

So your FSB should actually be 133.
IMO - its your SDRAM ( I bet!) RAM thats limiting stuff.

If its not - then it may be another prob.

But durons are stock at 133...
They work better with multi's though - FSB wont get you very far with them..

The Morgans aren't to OC friendly due to being the older tech of 180nm

You're kidding!
What durons are those!

I swear - with all the durons I"ve used (I have a drawer full of dead ones lol) I've only seen spitfire and Morgan - what I call... Duron cores lol.

Thanks for the info though
