Planning PC through TV, need to clear some things up.

Ok, so in an effort to save space in my room, have a big screen for gaming on both PC and 360 (without forgetting tv) and to save money in the long run, ive been looking at some cheapish 26" 720p LCD's.

But whats it like running through a tv? do i have to turn on the tv every time i turn on the pc, or is it like a monitor? whats the picture like?

I am aware that the resolution is around 1366 x 768, so i wont need a hardcore graphics card to run the latest games unlike on a 22" monitor, and i will also take response times into account.

Anyone with experience/ looking to do the same/ seen a friends please share what you've seen, heard and think about this subject!

Thanks, Ratty2k4

Well I am using my TV as a secondary monitor, mostly because I use my comp to play movies and I seldomly use it as a secondary.

But yeah you have to turn the TV on and set it to the channel or wherever you have your rig connected. The picture depends on the TV, I only get 1024 mode so that's not awesome but as I said it depends on the TV and if it is HD-ready.

But my experiences when playing on the TV is not very good at all, it's a widescreen, and the games I tried wasn't compatible if you will for the widescreen so the people all looked like fat little hobbits
With newer games though that shouldn't be a problem.

**EDIT: Turns it on

I use a 32" LCD TV as my main monitor, I run it at 1360 x 768. BF2 looks great, obviously not as nice as running a dell 30" but I don't have £1000 to drop on a monitor. My LCD cost me £500, bargain!
