Toshiba Satellite Touchpad problem!

Hi there guys!
I recently bought a Toshiba Satellite A200 TR4 laptop, and everything is fine until I decided to make a clean install of Windows Vista, without all those Toshiba software and stuff. Problem is: everytime I install Synaptics Touchpad driver, the touchpad is never enabled with all the functions like scrolling left-right, up and down, for example. I downloaded the updated drivers which are the same in the recovery CD, but I have already installed Vista three times, and the features are never available, only the buttons, and that's all! Basic of the basics! That, Vista already does, without installing the drivers. Anybody got a clue of what is going on? With the pre-installed Vista and evrything else it worked perfectly. But I don't want the recovery CD stuff. I want it clean and tidy, that's all!

Thank you for you support.

Make sure it is enabled in mouse settings in the control panel. Not exactly sure where in vista this is.

Thank you guys. It was most helpful. 1885, it is enabled in CP for sure. The problem is that after it installs, no matter how many times I've tried it, most of the functions (especially those I've mentioned above), simply don't show! I'm using the recovery CD now and will try to clean things up afterwards.

Nigel, if you say so, then we have a big problem with Toshiba, don't we? It just can't be so, in my opinion. I browsed through some of Toshiba's support dumb answers and couldn't find a thing. BTW, I use a nice USB mouse at home, but sometimes it's nagging to have one because of the place you are, the kind of situation, and so on. Anyway, I'm the kind of guy who wants everything working just because they're there, that's it! How about we join forces and try to find a solution? Any other tips are most welcomed. Thanx again for your time folks.
