10 Minute boot delay

Thread Starter
Ok today I turned the pc on as normal

The bios splash screen came up it's a DFI lanparty Ultra-D board btw
and it just stuck on the post screen no error messages it just hung

Well after much messing about I discovered if I leave it in this
state for about 10 minutes it comes back alive and boots into Vista
as normal and performance is as good as always

I have tried to reflash the bios but still the same thing
Anybody any ideas I did a google search but nobody
seems to have had the same fault

Make sure that whatever OS you are using is set as the primary OS.

First, please add your system specs here.

Next, do you have a boot gui?

I had a problem with my Ultra D where it hung on the splash screen and would not boot. I ended up pulling the bios chip and having it reflashed by biosmedic (google it) and it has run flawless since. There are 4 debugging LEDs on the board that light up and turn off one at a time during the post, where does yours stop at, how many LEDs are still lit?

It hangs with the led 1 lit (far left)

once it comes alive and boots it seems to run fine
allthough it's back to stock speed now, I was running
at 250mhz fsb 1:1 at 2.7ghz for 18 months rock solid

only started today, had no warning last time I used
the pc it shut down all ok

I had the issue pop up out of nowhere as well, I just shut it down, then tried to start it up the next day. I tried everything to clear CMOS. It would hang in the splash screen with the last LED on as well. Here is what the LEDs mean:
4 LEDs on = Power applied, checking CPU
3 LEDs on = CPU has been detected OK, checking RAM
2 LEDs on = RAM has been detected OK, checking VGA
1 LED on = VGA has been detected OK, entering BIOS
0 LEDs on = System has booted to the Operating System.

Sounds like your Bios is corrupt like mine was! I found were to get it flashed through DFI Streets. Here is where I got mine flashed at: Biosmedic. You can either send yours in and have it relashed, or you can just order another bios chip.

What BIOS are you using? I'm pretty sure the hotswap one would cause a couple of problems.

Also try disabling the splash screen, that might help us find us what actually is up. I believe it's under the Advanced Chipset options.

Well I dont understand it, I was on the pc this morning shut it down
vista wanted to install a few updates I let it, I turned it back on instant
start up problem gone, I dont think it can be software releated beacuse it a post screen bug

I didnt do anything since my last post other than a few viruis scanners
which never found anthing

Will have to see how it goes have flashed the bios today with the Tmod
disk used version 704-2bta , I need to start from scratch on overclocking
now though I know it runs perfect at 2.7ghz but I never wrote the vcore down 2 years ago when first tweeking, my bad!
