Overclocking 3600 x2 and tforce 550

Thread Starter
bought a 3600x2 and a tforce 550 recently and also bout myself g skill ram 2x1gb ddr2 800. now i was truely wondering what next???? i have a zalman cnps 9500 so there is no worries there.

the max vdimm is 1.8-2.1v for the ram.. should i go update my bios on the motherboard cause i have read around that some older bios's work better than some new ones... so should i just update to the latest?

also i have a question about when to set the htt multiplier from 3x and 4x....i read around somewhere back then that if ur fsb is less than like 287 u set it to 4x and and higher fsb u set the htt to 3x??? well im really hoping to get started tomorrow, i know that there are other threads on this, but im asking for a bit of different, more focused help... ill give thanks to those that help...wit a rep i guess, even though it doesnt show the real appreciation i will truely be giving. i dont need step by step because i have it down, its just the ram:cpu i have problems with!! thnx!

Hey, nice combo

Anyway, yeah you got the HT multi down. I usually keep mine at 3x if I'm close to or over 300. Drop the ram the 667 and bump up the voltage on everything except cpu by 1. Now just go till you get errors on orthos. You should get 2.6 give or take on stock voltage.

If you have any other questions or need 1 on 1 help tomorrow just PM me. I have all the same stuff so...

Up by .1. Not 1.

But yeah. Find the max clock of every component and then find out the best set for you.

You want to keep the Hypertransport at or around 1GHz so adjust your FSB and HTT multi accordingly. ie. if you are approaching 250MHz FSB, drop the HTT multi down to 4X, 333MHz HTT multi down to 3X and so forth.

The X2 3600 and Tforce 550 are a great combo so you should not have too much problems getting at least 2.7GHz. Refer to the Ultimate Overclocking Guide for more indepth tips. There's a LOT of great info there.

Good luck!
