and btw with the C2D the dot method is out the window, you use the line method, i guess thats what its called, anyway you make a very thin line of AS5 down the cpu where the cores are at under the ihs. iirr where the little dip is on the ihs i believe is where the cores are and go to the other side but not on the edges of the ihs, try to keep it kinda in the center area. theres some threads with a diagram and some screenies, i'll look for it.

Lol but thats hoiw the dor method is supposed to be. THe die on the CPU (one core CPU that is) is in the middle, spreading the thermal paste all over the IHS means the heatsink will draw heat from all the IHS but if its just the middle then it will draw heat only from there. Especially with non lapped CPUs that the bronze is covered that methid helps a lot. If its lapped since the bronze that lets heat travel easier then the dor method would help only a little. But rememeb the dor method is exactly used so the thermal paste does not cover all the IHS but as less IHS in the middle as it can.

Yeah if you have a C2d or a Pentium Dual Core then use the line method. Sorry I did not know you had C2D.

With my stock cooler (lapped E4300) i treid a bunch of different methods

The line method
The razor method
Finger in the bag method
and
Line method on cpu plus thin layer on heatsink combined

line method was the worst by 5 degrees,
the best was actually doing the line plus heatsink.
but it was only maybe 1 or 2 degrees better than just a thin layer.

Can you please fill your system specs? Go to the User CP and add a system. And like I said if the IHS is lapped then almsot all the methods do the same since the bronze is revealsed and the heat travels easier than before.
