I had a nightmare with BF2142

So I go to EA Link and download it...took about an hour which isn't too bad.

Once it downloaded I went to install it and everything went over fine, although I never at any point in time received a CD-key nor was I prompted to enter one, I figure its embedded in the installation packaged since its linked to my EA Link account/Credit Card.

So it installs just fine and I go to launch it...the following is a timeline of nightmares that lasted me several hours.

1.) Wow it doesn't support 1680x1050...why? Because its an unfair advantage..............................

2.) I go to join a server and the gave locks up on me, I get the BSOD and then I restart my comp.

3.) Windows boots back up and I go to launch it again and I join a server then I get "Invalid CD key"...***?

4.) I figure something went to hell so I go to Control Panel to Add/Remove Programs...but wait!

5.) BF2142 isn't in the list...as listed before "***?"

6.) I come to find that if the game is open and you restart the computer for whatever reason it corrupts the registry...

7.) Using my superb intellect I decide to manually remove BF2142 (Reg keys/folders/ETC...) and run the Installer again.

8.) I go to run the Installer and then I get a SEND/DONT SEND error report.

9.)I finally get desperate and do a system restore which sets everything right...

10.) However everything I had downloaded past June 24th was gone so I had to re-download the Installer again.

11.) I finally reinstall it and low and behold the game locks up and I'm forced to restart my computer again, thus corrupting the registry.

12.) Finally I get desperate and go to the ERGC sub folder in the Registry and notice the CD Key does have the "x9632" value in front of it, so I put that in front of it and then I'm finally able to join servers

Did I mention this game doesn't support Widescreen? I can hack the shortcut to run in 1680x1050 but its not true Widescreen...sigh

well that sounds like a huge lump of gheyness....just what i would expect from EA link...

Note for the future = if you ever want to buy a game by EA or DICE, BUY IT IN STORE! The Hard coppies of the games are glitchy enough, never mind giving yourself all that extra hastle.
