EVE Online - Page 3

Well, the only thing is is that I seem to be having trouble with NPC seek and destroy missions with my Rifter. Maybe it's not decked out properly, but I can't see how I could make it much more efficient. It just gets torn up. The last two missions I did took me 10-15 trips there and back each to destroy everything I needed to destroy. I kind of want to get in my destroyer with 4 200mm autocannons, 3 250mm projectile cannons, and a missile launcher and just chill there while destroying everything.

How long will it take to train to cruisers/what do they cost?

Thaaat's why you avoid 0.4 space...
That, and TAKE OUT INSURANCE.

I played a 14-day trial, and I think it's a very fun game. I don't much like monthly fees, so I'm not going to get it, but I'd say the experiences in it are MUCH more diverse from boring old WoW.

I spent 12 million ISK buying a cruiser + decking it out. I'm broke. The training is nothing special, same as any level 1 skill, like 20 mins - an hour tops. Oh, but you need Frigate IV which takes a while if you don't have it.

I remember the first time I got blown up... it was in low sec too - I was flying through a 2 .4 systems and I saw this guy 100km off the gate flashing red... I was like, why is he flashing red? Uh oh... I'm getting shot. That was before warp to 0, so you had to travel 15km to the gate after you warped to it. I lost a shuttle and a few million in skillbooks, I thought it was all over lol. But if you stick with it you can rebound pretty quickly.

Also, it really sucks because you have to wait, but the best thing to do is train up your learning skills first - that will cut ALOT of time off your training times.

Make sure you train up "Learning" to 4 or 5, then train the regular learning skill (Iron Will, Instant Recall, Spatial Awareness, and Analytical Mind) to 4 then the advanced learning skill to ~4, thats +8 to the attribute + the 1.2 modifier Learning 4 gives. It adds up fast, and although you think it takes forever - if you plan on playing eve for more than maybe 6 months, the increased speed to your skill training will pay off big time.

My ingame name is Solarii, send me a convo sometime if you are on - I play on and off, if you have any questions send me an evemail.

I have a question for the EVE Vets here..

Now, I see the ship progression if you want to get into Battleships, it's pretty straightforward..

How exactly does one utilize Interceptors and Assault ships, and can you make them viable options for mission running and/or pvp? If so, how exactly would you outfit one for such an occasion? I fail to see how an Interceptor would ever put a fight up against, say, a Battleship for example.

Assault ships with good skills can tank like crazy. Because they are so small they take very small amounts of damage from larger ships, and because they are t2 ships they have t2 resists. But being webbed or Nos'ed basically means you are dead. Their dps also isn't that great in the scheme of things, but considering the size of the ship they have good tanking ability/dps for a frigate size ship.

As for say 1v1 with a battleship, they aren't really meant to be able to destroy ships like that 1v1. Interceptor's dps is pretty bad, the Taranis has decent dps, but its nothing that a battleship couldn't tank.

I don't really use interceptors all that much, except to travel quickly. If you get coordinated gangs of assault ships/interceptors and frigs you can be pretty powerful though.

If you have no desire to fly battleships the easiest path to see is the assault ship -> heavy assault ship -> command ship path. HACs and Command ships are pretty fun ships to fly. But, command ships especially take alot of training to get into.

Hmm, thanks. That puts things a little more into perspective for me. I'll look into Command Ships. I'm not sure I want to fly the biggest baddest ship in space, I quite like the fast small ships.

A lot of it was the fact that I didn't notice that bigger guns did less damage to smaller ships. I took out my Caracal cruiser to do a few level I missions, and was mildly surprised to find my 2 assault launchers doing way more damage to the frig ships than my 3 heavy launchers.

I'm considering starting EVE up again.

Only problem I had with it was the fact that I couldn't go any faster in skill progression. That and mining was kinda tedious but so is anything in an MMO hehe

Learning skills, while they seem boring and such at first, are a GIANT help. I spent 3-4 days training some Learning skills, it brought a 17day skill down to only 10days. The past week or so, I've been training other skills so I could progress past Level I missions a little, but now I'm going back to do more learning skills. They are a LIFE saver. My goal is to get that 10 days (already a week off) down to atleast 7 days. I'm sure I can, too.

And yeah, mining is terribly boring.
