1. This is what my as5 coverage was after i removed the hsf from my try last night.

3. The applicator. Ok, so i decided too much as5 was wasted just by putting the end of the mechanical pencil on the end of the oem applicator. So what i did was use an OfficeMax 0.7 pencil. I cut the first 3/8 inch of the tip off of the pencil. As i applied it i just used two fingers as I squeezed the syringe plunger down. It was a bit tedious but i didn't waste as much as5. (on my pencil there was some plastic that prevented it from sliding on but I just used a electronics screwdriver and twisted it out)

http://img27.picoodle.com/img/img27/...2m_ba5b72c.jpg (sorry about the blurriness)

4. After the application, this is the amount of as5 on cpu.

5. And the hsf installation. Here is a pic just for the heck of it.(my hs base)
http://img28.picoodle.com/img/img28/...9m_0756c85.jpg

6. The results so far are the same as my normal application of as5.
Before
Idle=42c on tat,30c speedfan, and 36c core0/40c core1 by coretemp.
Load(same order as above)=58c,54c,58c/61c
after
Idle=43c,31c,38/41c
Load=59c,54c,60c/62c
http://img34.picoodle.com/img/img34/...5m_793f657.jpg

I may still be using too much as5, because my temps have not increased either. I may try again tomm. once i get some more time. Gonna have to stock up on as5, finally after 2 years i need some more as5, lol.

Ok, here is how it went for the testing also. I have an ambient temp of 21-22c and it is only hitting the 80f out side so my basement is staying pretty cool.My vcore is at 1.35v and am running 325x9.

Well,hope some find interest/use of this.

Audi, def. a good idea either way. Thanks for the suggestion.
these pics are painfully big

don't mind the size, but they are painfully out of focus

hey if your camera won't focus right set it to manual and if you can't focus still then zoom out and move the camera in for the same framing that should help

bad

no-where near as good of a thermal conductor... save the tape for when there is no way to hold the heat sinks down other than with the tape itself

Soory about the pics guys, not too used to the camera and I don't ever usually take pics. I will try what USlatin suggested on future pics.

Anyway wanted to get back and show new temps after burn-in. I also am now running 365x8 with 1.4vcore.

http://img27.picoodle.com/img/img27/...sm_f04bec5.jpg

http://img37.picoodle.com/img/img37/...sm_63ee4f0.jpg

Now imo, with my vcore and fsb my new temps aren't as bad as my previous.
I do however go by SpeedFan, I know it is unpopular to be trusted as a temp reading program but imo it is the only program which for me delivers constant and sustained temp read outs through all of my testing and other programs reading the same as it.

This should be a sticky titled "How to Apply AS5". This question comes up quite often.
post #138 of 241
Can I use a the cap of a mechanical pencil that has been used? Will the graphite contaminate the AS5?

If you're that worried, just clean the pencil cap in some rubbing alcohol, give it a good bath.
