I tried this and had bad results...no matter how hard I held the pencil head on as5 oozed out the sides, maybe you had a tighter fitting cap than me.

I was using a BIC mechanical pencil head.

I think it's a great idea if you have the right pencil head.

But I would recommend only doing it if you have a spare as5 tube that you can use. (which I stupidly did not)

What size lead did you get? You should get the second largest one which I believe is .5mm or 1.0mm. That should make a difference.

The thin one is like .07mm-- I used to draw with those.

If you did get a small one, use a safety pin to widen the opening.

As far as what's left in the pencil end: There's some left, and you could tear out the tube thingy and push the rest out if you need it; chances are, you'll have a new Tube of AS5 after that long, though.

Updating the front of the thread with right Mechanical pencil size.

The tip was from a 0.7mm pencil. I didn't realize it made a difference.

Alright I had a friend look at his pencils cause I'm not at home:

.7 2b or .5 2b is the pencil size. BIC as well.

HOWEVER, I was able to UNSCREW the end of my pencil instead of having to break it off. I will look at the exact pencil and find it for you guys as soon as I get off-a work.

I just walked around the office and couldn't find one similar. So, when I go home I'll take pictures of the pencil and find out what kind exactly.

Sorry about that, peoples! I shoulda done that in the first place!

nice work, i squeezed a small blob onto the CPU and used a plastic bag over my fingers and spread around everything until no metal could be seen, i know i should of done it like a line but i seriously cant be stuffed taking out my big typhoon and removing/reapplying the paste because that installing that huge heatsink would take me over 2 hours, not to mention all the cuts and bruises on my fingers and all the cursing....
