e6700 2.67g currently at 3.4 and stable. Want more .....

Thread Starter
Well i have a new setup, and looking for some help as new to this side of things, i read alot on here and with that i got my system to a 3.4g from a 2.67.
My current setup is :-

MSI MS-7350 with chipset 650i SLI SPP and southbridge 650i SLI MCP.
Bios American Megatrends Inc. V1.2 04/04/2007
CPU Intel Core 2 Duo Conroe E6700 2.67g
3 gig ddr2 pc-5300 memory cheap stuff
GFX card Nvidia GeForce 8800GTS 640mb
400gig sata2 hard drive
Using freezer pro7 heatsink and fan
Case is Xclio with 2 X 25cm fans and a extra 12cm rear fan.
CPU runs at around 32-34c most of the time, highest i seen it is 39c
Thermaltake toughpower 600w power supply

Apart from that i been reading on this forum, and learning how and whys and whens.

I started with Ntune, and ran that, worked rather well, and got my specs from that, increase the cpu to a 3 gig system with no heat difference.

Once done that i used the info from there to take into my bios directly, and started reading more there.

Currently i now got my 2.67g running at 3.4g and so far stable from this morning, i have increased my voltage a few clicks, and so far so good.

I not touched my GFX card at all, running 3dmark06 on 9546 score, but yesterday when cpu lower i had it on 10046, so now a bit confused.

I been running orthos now for a few hours and no issues at all, but would like more advice if possible on what i can do now to increse it a touch more, and then some info on starting on the gfx card and what i should do.

Be greatful for any help you can give, i know i am a noob, but i like to learn and thats what i am here for.

Cheers all.

You past 333mhz FSB, so the mobo changed NB straps...the latency increase is what dropped your scores, more than likely. There are a thousand other possibilities too...

If you would fill out your system specs in the user cp section, we might have a clue as to how go about suggesting something.

A few things you should have as a member of OCN:

SuperPi
Used for testing performance and for stability testing both CPU and RAM.

CpuZ
This is used for finding useful information about your system, it will tell your cpu speed/voltage, fsb, cpu multi, and latency timings for your RAM. It is also used to 'verify' your OC in a registered database. Then you can put a link for your cpuZ verification in your sig too.

TAT
Used for displaying the 'true' core temp of your C2D cpu.

Once you have cpuZ on your rig, take screenies of the 'SPD' tab screen and post back...it will help determine how far your OC can/cant really go...and post a screeny of your TAT temps too. Thanks a bunch.

ok after a test with ORTHOS over night i had to get her back to a 3.2g for stable

Here are some CPUZ screen shots that may help me out.

I ran 3dmark06 now and getting a score of 10930
