Brandon, other than overclocking options, there is a bios update available for your board. This new bios update addresses the DRR533 dual channel support issues. So if you are experiencing those issues, this version supposedly fixes that problem. That bios can be downloaded by going here: http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/for...ords=&areaid=7

I tried to look for a modded bios for you but came back empty handed.

Good luck

I have a problem going past 2gigs of ram, I have 3x 1 gig sticks and 2x 15 sticks it will just beep with them in.
It does work fine with 2x512 and 1x 1024, or 2x 1024 but if it gets past the 2048 mark it will not boot.
I did get it to boot one time with 2x1024 and 1x512 but after reboot it just beeped or BSOD.

I dont know why, but could it be because there all difrent brands?

I also herd that it needs to be ECC ram to get over the 2024 mark?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

FYI this is a ACER ASE380 comp.

MADOGRE, sorry for the late response. 2048mb may be the max supported amount of memory for that motherboard. All though I have never heard of that (unless it was a board back in the P2 days) but perhaps for this particular bios it is. Another reason why I kind of steer away from proprietary boards.

Good luck

Ok, this comp is NOT overclockable. It is an OEM board. The companies lock down their boards for a reason. So they can make more money. Dell, HP Gateway, etc. lock their boards down. This is all over the web about them. Unless you buy from a brand that allows you to, (i don't think there are very many, if there is, they maybe priced higher than others for that reason). You can change procs if you know the chipset of the board.

And Acer is advertising their system as allowing up to 4GB of Memory:
http://shopping.yahoo.com/p:Acer%20A...NlYwNiZ3NpYg--

I would also like to see 4GB Memory working in my Aspire E380 -Upgrading the 64-Bit Vista will not fix this? It is a mobo issue and I need a new mobo?

Revlimiter, have you checked for a BIOS for this particular motherboard to see if that resolves any issues? I know HP and Dell releases BIOS updates for their proprietary motherboards.

Good luck

Yep, I updated to the latest BIOS Version, R01B4
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/desktop/aspire_e380/bios/

And unfortunately it still does not resolve my RAM issue. Looks like I may need to wait for the next update which could take another year and may not even resolve the problem... orrr just find another cheap motherboard that does the trick.
Does anybody know of any good 64-bit mobos that will work with my current rig (see signature) + an additional 2GB RAM running 2Volts? Thanks

yea this is a MOBO problem, Vista 32 should let you see 2.5 to 3.3gigs of ram but will not boot with over 2gigs.
Acers is crap IMO they need to update this bios or some thing, i called them and they would only tell me to RMA the PC so they could check the RAM, but the ram is fine, i dont even use it any more, its cheap and was 2x512 sticks so made no sence to RMA it.
