Is the fx-57 @ 3.0ghz sufficient for crysis?? - Page 3

I'd recommend the Opteron 165. You should get good clocks with it. 3.0 Ghz is hardly required and 2.8/2.7 should be more than enough. I doubt the x2 4200+ would hit 3.0 on air anyway.

Also one more thing: if you upgrading with Crysis in mind, what's the hurry? We have no information on actual requirements or even a release date. If it's only for Crysis you might as well wait till it's released, check out benchmarks and then make a purchase based on said benchmarks.

Your FX at 3Ghz is comparable to a C2D at about 2.2Ghz.

Actually in an interview they stated that a X2 5000+ (If I recall correctly) and a 8800 series or a e6600 and a 8800 series should run the game fine fully maxed out, with 2 gigs of ram. I vote for the opty 165, Mine booted up first time at 2.7 ghz, I just threw the fsb to 300 and left the volts at 1.4 and it's running fine right now.

Yes, even I read that article. But if this is just for Crysis, why not just wait till the game comes out and is benchmarked so we know the exact difference between playing it with a single core and dual core.

What's the rush? There isn't a release date out yet.
