CPU temps match Video Card temps. (HOT)

Thread Starter
I noticed that when I run Orthos for hours or my Intel TAT program to stress out my CPU I have PERFECT temps, however when I run anything with video such as a game or 3Dmark one of my temps goes through the roof and closely matches my video card.

***The only temp I am worried about is the one in Speedfan called "CPU".***

Example: Idle
Attachment 50964

Example: Intel TAT running 100% of both my cores I get this (Notice CPU is 41 C):
Attachment 50960

The only hot part is my North Bridge at 53 C.

Example: I alt tabbed out of World Of Warcraft and this is what I had (My temps dropped about 4 or 5 C before I could take the screen shot.
Attachment 50962

I had my computer overclocked at 3.0 GHz but it slowed down about 90% of what it is at stock, that and my one temp gets too hot and I got worried, but apparently it is that hot at stock to... UGH maybe I should just give up overclocking?

Should I be worried about that one temp? It seems as if my video card is heating up my CPU.

Any thoughts?

maybe get better case airflow?!..and have a fan blow directly to your cpu heatsink from the side of your case?!

My case is built for amazing airflow. I have 2 120mm fans in the front, 1 120mm fan in the back, and a 200mm fan on the top.

Anyway, should I be worried about these temps?

I doubt I need to mount my heatsink again because my core temps are normal?

Also, when I overclock I found that the core temps were a tad higher but my "CPU" temp from speedfan was about the same and it always went up when the video card got hotter. The only temp that rises when I am using my CPU at max is my north bridge.

I am still kinda freaking out please I need some more suggestions! I am worried I am killing my computer with these dangerous temps.

Well I tried using another program to measure the temps and it seems my Speedfan was reading it wrong.

I used everest and this is what I got:

This is my CPU at 100% load using TAT:
Attachment 51056

This is my CPU after running one 3Dmark06 test:
Attachment 51057

And finally I can see a major difference idle (still a tad hot from running tests) as well:
Attachment 51058

Those temps don't look unusual at all, really ... pretty close to what you'd expect from your setup.

For instance, my 6400 @ 3.6ghz TAT loads around 55C in a 24C ambient room ... seems about commensurate with your results.

Your temps look good to me too.. And yes your video card may push some heat up to your cpu..

Almost every C2D has a max T_case temp of around 60C.. The problem is most software reads the DTS.. DTS if different from T_case, but Intel does not give a DTS max... I suggest subtracting about 7C from your CoreTemp reading to find your T_case..

Either case your temps still are fine IMO..

Yeah, the Everest temps look great, after I thought about it, the speedfan temp didn't make any sense. There is no way the cores could be in the 30s and the tCase be in the 70s.

Thanks for the replies
