Pixel Pipelines

Thread Starter
I was wondering what the difference was between a 12 pixel pipeline card and a 16 pixel pipeline card. Is it just faster? or is there another purpose for pipelines?

16 is much faster, at least from my own experience. I had an x800xl, then I bought an x1600pro 512 thinking it would be better, but it had only 12 pixel pipelines and was way slower.

Pixel Pipelines are one of the most determining factors in performance, don't skimp on them!

The more pixel pipelines you have... the more data that can be processed in a given time. Each additional pipeline is like another core.

However, pixel pipelines will be replaced by stream processors with DX10. These are adaptable programmable processors.
Once again...
