The card is overclockable, and if you plan on playing graphic intense games such as Far Cry, then I suggest you get the most out of your card by overclocking it ... you will get noticeable gains if you move it up to 4600 speeds. As for a cooler, the GiantIII is a great cooler !!

Yes, oc it.

I've got the bigger brother of yours (Ti4800 SE) and now I can play Farcry & Doom3 without any major slow-down.

Mine was running @ 265/554 and now its @ 315/635 without any problems.

I did read somewhere that someone got a Ti4400 to run at the same speed as a Radeon 9800 (although the GFX core was water-cooled).

Do you have a cooler system on your gef4 ti 4800??

Before you overclock, put any small cooler on the memory. It should help overclockability a bit, especially if you wanna play farcry or doom 3!

I've got a GF4 Ti4400 128mb DDR as well, but by Leadtek.

The thing came with the biggest wierdest heatsink and dual fans attached to it that i've ever seen. It seems to work fine, but didn't give me quite as much performance gain as I had hoped over my old card. Think it might be my CPU slowing me down (1.3ghz Dell P4 on 384mb rdram)... but regardless, I want to try overclocking. The card comes with "WinFox" software that lets you overclock it, but I don't really know how much is safe. Its got that wierd, massive heatsink +2 fans on it... always feels pretty cool to touch, just a little warm, and I do an open case. I think I have it 10-15% OC'd right now? Like I said... haven't noticed much over it being non-OC'd, but haven't really done any benchmarks rigorously with it on each setting.

Advice please??!
