P5N32-E SLI 680i Quad Failure - Page 16

Any sort of release date for X38 boards while you all are on the subject? I was hoping to get a board with good Q6600 overclocking AND SLI support, but looks like they aren't really out there yet.

To be honest, it's highly likely to be a premium price being a new chipset. And being one that not only supports Crossfire and SLI it has PCIE-2.0 and many more features that'll drive the cost up. I have heard there will be several flavours of this board though. But the one everyone will be interested in will be expensive.

I think the Striker debuted around $450 on Newegg? I dont' remember, I just remembered it looked ridiculous to me... like it was unreal... like an April Fool's joke. lol

However, I doubt that will ever happen again, I think $300 seems to be the limit people are willing to spend on a state of the art board... which the X38 will be... state of the art. SLI's starting to look less appealing. Although the "unlocked speed protection" picks up the slack and makes the x38 look appealing again... ugh

agree completely but let me add that with he 9800's out the 8800's might drop a nice chunk... then getting a second GTS/GTX might become a good investment

now for others like me that need 3 DVI outs SLI is the only way to go...

You could still run 3DVI outs on a regular 16x, 4x mobo...just not good for gaming.
yea I know... I could go with dual 7900's right now but I am holding out for cheaper G80's cause I might like the color correction speeds if I can run it on a SLI setup...

Are the threads split amongst the two cards via hardware or software?

i should probably start a new thread for this, but this is a board failure thread...on an asus phoenix bios one long continuous beep means mobo/psu problem right?
