Has anyone ever done phase change on the northbridge? What if any performance would this give you?

Many people put their northy in their WC setup...but it would just be way overkill and might not be good to be in phase...some people don't even change their voltages of their northbridge to get their max overclock.

You must have never owned a Intel/Nvidia chipset mobo, then...the damn NB idle around 50c! H20 is a must for a high FSB OC on a Nvidia board, else they run way too hot and the NB errors.

I have a 40mm fan on my NB, but wish I did have the block to hook it into my loop. Considering it runs around 2.1-2.4ghz on a ~1.8ghz FSB at 1.4v ...yeah it gets real warm.

And although, 'extreme' NB cooling has not been mainstream..extreme OC'ers know, that cooling the NB is a must for a stable system at high speeds. With the new chipsets coming out, already hitting 600+FSB [yeah no ****, thats 2.4ghz mobo speed] you can bet you will start seeing more extreme methods of cooling coming to the NB...possibly including phase. If you are using a 600mhz FSB, the NB could easily be doing 3.5ghz...possibly higher, depending on CPU multi.

I have not recieved my board yet; however, I am hoping a reseat with Arctic Silver 5 will be enough. If not, I will buy Enzotech Bridge Coolers and use Ramsinks as MOSFET coolers.

Toms hardware phased their NB in their 2004 world record run, then used LN2 for their CPU, its been done, its just not neccisary, you could get a nice phase for CPU, and use chilled water for NB, that'd probably serve you fine...

Umm actually alot of the guys that do LN2 cooling that have a phase change unit put it on there NB. I have scene it several times and it allows them to voltmod there NB and get some crazy fsb while ocing.

I wouldnt do it for no 24/7 setup but if your ocing for records and stuff then yeah go for it.

Yeah, I've heard that...mine runs really cool...around 42C max on huge loads lol

On my old nforce4 mobo...i couldnt get past 960mhz FSB..the NB temps were into the 60c range when gaming at high resolutions for extended times.

I cant wait to see what this P5K can do with some good mobo mods.

Well, nForce4 for Intel has never been good.

Nope I've never had an Intel. But I have this water cooler that is too small for a cpu or gpu. All that needs to be done to it is bend down the condenser so it's not 3ft tall and put an evaporator on it. But I have no need for it. So do I build it and give it away for what I have into it, or just not bother?
