CD... awesome case!!!! (of course) But what I really really really like about this mod is one little simple picture... your fan controller PCB on a table saw!!! That is absolute torture to look at, at first I was thinking "What the *bleep* is this guy thinking?", but then I remembered who was modding this case and was instantly put at ease again! Ha!Ha!Ha! It seems to have worked out rather nicely for you.

lol

Yeah running a PCB through a tablesaw made me smile too.

The stock SunBeam uses 4 spacing washers per pot (about 5/32") and by removing those washers and trimming the board I can get the knobs to stick out far enough throught eh 1/2" acrylic to make them usable...

I also removed the LED bezels so the LEDs can protrude into the little detents I drill into the face panel.

Getting a slow start today..I need to do some things with my family before I can go down and work in the shop.

List of things to do:

Phase one:

Sand and prime and paint the brackets for the rad

Sand and paint the face frame again some more...

Polish the acrylic front panel

Cut a new UV red acrylic window for the side panel and port it for two fans over the GFX

Fabricate a simple bracket for the MCP 655 pump.

Phase two :

Assemble all the painted parts and put the case entirely back together complete with fans etc..

Prep the LC components by sealing and installing all the fittings

Plumb the loop

Fill, bleed, run in the loop.

Mount my test mobo in the case and make sure the systems cools adequately and there are no clearance issues.

Phase three:
Take shots for my gallery and store and for my upcoming subforum here (Vendor Status on the Way!)

Protect and box up the rig ready to ship. (This will require a special crate like I made for Blue Dream)

SELL the RIG!!!! (very important step )

Phase Four: There is NO Phase Four

Phase Five:
Do it all again in Blue and Green

Well actually the Blue A900 is Blue and Black with Silver accents and the Green A900 is Green and Black with Gold accents (pimpadelic!)

Those case are actually pretty far along and need about the same amount of work to complete.

CD... I have a quick question about the top exhaust fan you had installed... did you paint it that color or were you able to find that color online somewhere? The reason I'm asking is 'cause I want to paint some of my old fans I have lying around, but am worried if that's a good idea 'cause the paint might get into the windings and mess things all up. Any ideas on how to paint a fan? (safely)

UN fortunately Phase Four has been getting a real workout the past three weeks...and this is putting my schedule in limbo...

I too am looking forward to Vendor Status because I will then be able to SELL my CASES here. Without it I must rely on PMs from clients as it is against the Terms of Service to Spam our beloved Forum with things like urls to a shop or constant references to my services etc etc.

Also the For Sale Sub Forum here is set up for us to sell and buy and trade and give away our own personal gear...not as a MarketPlace for Fans, Lights, Custom Work and Services, Cases and Rigs built to sell etc etc.

It is important to maintain the distinction between passing along some gear and using the FS as a Venue for running a business.

Several months ago I made the leap into Case Modding/Sales full time. Like all new ventures it has been finanacially draining but emotionally rewarding. I have yet to see any BLACK ink on the ledger...but I will give this a full on run...money is flowing like water on these projects..and I have to hope that eventually I will be able look my Wife in the eye and say "Honey...CyberDruidPC turned a profit this month"

The difference between a business and a hobby is a Hobby loses money...although I will always fiddle with this "Hobby" I really feel that it is possible to turn a modest profit or else I would have never made the leap to "Pro" but that remains to be seen...

The fan is custom painted.

Painting a fan is not a prob. The paint will not get in the windings. the Duplicolor I use is "hot" so it can effect the surface of the fan (melting/porosity) so you need to test the plastic in an inconspicuous area first.

The way I go about it is mask the wires and hang the fan and squirt it from all sides. Several light coats are better than one heavy coat.
