DDR3 is mainly gaming wait for X38 chipset the boards built to OC and some like Gigabyte have DDR2 2 slots and DDR3 2 slots so you have everyday ram and DDR3 for games and other memory heavier apps. Plus you can build the system now and wait to buy DDR3 when the price goes down to that of DDR2. But not have to worry about selling your DDR2 when you get it or getting a new Mobo.

I have that motherboard and DDR3 RAM. If the DDR3 was half the price it is now, I would say go for it. But I was somewhat underwhelmed by its performance. It was not slow, but it did not blow DDR2 out of the water. If you do get DDR3 now, I would be willing to bet in 6 months you will be getting newer and faster memory at half the price. I wanted to try them, and am happy I did, but I know I will be getting better when the technology matures a bit more.
